Location:
Newbury, Berkshire (located between the Newbury Bypass and the A339 just below Donnington Castle).
Golf Courses:
The Donnington Grove Estate comprises of 550 acres of beautiful Berkshire parkland with the River Lambourn running though it and provides an ideal setting for a golf course. The task of designing the course was given to Dave Thomas, designer of the Brabazon course at The Belfry and one of Britain's foremost golf architects. The golf course was built in 1993 and Dave Thomas has been credited with creating a course that is both aesthetically faultless and a great challenge for all levels of golfer. The two nines are very different in character; the front nine is very undulating on higher ground and has stunning views over Newbury, whilst the back nine can be described as classic parkland, with an abundance of beautiful trees and water hazards. Donnington Grove has held two Euro Pro Tour events in recent years and in 2004 hosted the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open on the European Challenge Tour. From the Championship Tees the course measures over 7,100 yards, and presents a stiff challenge for low handicap golfers. As well as the outstanding course, those playing golf at Donnington Grove have full use of the driving range.
Hotel Accommodation:
The Donnington Grove Hotel is a delightfully renovated 18th Century mansion renowned for it gothic architecture.
