Golf Course
Given that Scotland is The Home of Golf it is no surprise that within 30 minutes of Kinnettles lie some of the finest golf courses in the World such as:-
The Old Course, St Andrews: The oldest and most famous 18 holes in the world. The Old Course has played host to the greatest golfers that have ever lived. Please note that although tee-times on the Old course are limited, certain slots do become available. So, if you do want to play the Old Course, please be in touch.
Carnoustie: There are three courses at Carnoustie Golf Links - The Championship, Burnside and Buddon. The Championship Course has hosted The Open six times and is often described as Scotland's ultimate golfing Challenge. The 1999 Open will always be remembered for Jean van de Velde's disastrous last hole where he let slip a three stoke lead to lose to local hero Paul Lawrie in the play-off. The course will once again host the world's greatest tournament in 2007.
The New Course, St Andrews: Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf at St Andrews, both from locals and from the visitors who were flocking to the town in increasing numbers on the recently constructed railway. The construction of the New Course was paid for the Royal and Ancient Golf Club as part of an arrangement under which the club was allocated the right to certain starting times on the Old Course. These arrangements were enshrined in the first Act of Parliament concerning the Links which was passed in 1894 and was the forerunner of the current Act of 1974 which specifies how the links are to be run.
Kingsbarns: The Kingsbarns Golf Links site has long been known for its intimate connection with the sea. The fact that its golf origins date back to 1793 is testimony to the attributes of the site which foster ideal conditions for links turf to flourish amid interesting natural terrain. This unique part of East Fife has sandy soils, undulating ridges and hollows, Cambo burn running into the sea, all set immediately against the rugged coastline of the North Sea. Kingsbarns Golf Links is a tribute to its rich Scottish links heritage.
There are also a variety of other courses ranging from Championship Links to Hidden Gems such as Panmure, Scotscriag, Blairgowrie and Ladybank Golf Clubs. There are over 50 golf courses within a 45 minute drive of Kinnettles. Speak to one of our sales consultants for further information.
