Golf Courses:

Thorpeness is a unique golfing destination on the Suffolk Heritage coast, boasting one of the most challenging and enjoyable golf courses in the England. Thorpeness Golf Club was designed by the great James Braid in 1922 and is a coastal heathland classic offering a tough challenge to every level of player. The course consists of 18 holes measuring 6432 yards off the championship tees. It is a par 69 for men and par 74 for ladies. The course winds through silver birch, pine trees gorse and heather and was described by the Sunday Telegraph Golfing Guide as "Reminiscent of the inland glories of Sunningdale and Woodhall Spa". The course is sand based and as a result has outstanding drainage and playable all year round.

Golfers staying at Thorpeness can also book tee times at Aldeburgh Golf Club. Founded in 1884, Aldeburgh Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Suffolk and is separated from the tidal Alde estuary by an unusual strip of heathland terrain. Although the course itself is not a links, its close proximity to the estuary and the North Sea provide golfers with unique inland links experience.
